In dentistry, a veneer is a layer of material placed over a tooth, veneers improve the aesthetics of a smile and/or protect the tooth’s surface from damage.
Porcelain Veneers can provide you a Complete Smile Makeover.
Those who suffer from

  • Discoloration,
  • Cracked,
  • Chipped,
  • Misaligned, or
  • Misshapen teeth and
  • Other cosmetic imperfections are ideal candidates.

By the procedure’s very nature, candidates must have existing teeth (even though not perfect) on which to graft the veneers. Porcelain veneers offer an easier and minimally invasive alternative to Dental Crowns for altering the shape, color, and overall aesthetics.

Patients with severely decayed, missing, or otherwise seriously compromised teeth may not be good candidates for porcelain veneers, and should instead opt for a more holistic solution including a Full Mouth Dental Implants also known as All On 4 Implants Procedure or a Complete Smile Makeover that can provide you with a New Smile and Teeth in A Day.

What is Porcelain Veneers?

Dental veneers are a possible solution to help you achieve the look you desire. Dental veneers are thin covers that adhere to teeth to give teeth a more classically shaped look. Anacapa Dental Art Institute practices offer a variety of dental veneer options to choose from. Talk to your dentist about what’s best for you.

How Porcelain Veneers can provide you a Complete Smile Makeover?

When you get your porcelain veneers installed at Anacapa Dental Art Institute, they are permanent fixtures. Dr. Jivraj will have a full revision before letting you leave the office. By making temporary veneers, you can see what your future permanent smile is going to look and feel like. Most dentists do not usually perform these additional steps. In veneers procedures performed by other dentists, after impressions are made, a lab will make the veneers where they are then installed, permanently. Dr. Jivraj and his Anacapa Dental Art Institute takes this extra step to ensure you will be happy with your final look.

Best of all, this added perk is at no additional cost to you. Once you are happy and comfortable with the look of your future smile, Dr. Jivraj and his expert team will install the permanent fixtures.

Types Of Veneers

Veneers are made of either porcelain or composite resin material. Your dentist will help you choose the material that is best for you. Each type of veneer has its own benefits.

Porcelain Veneers

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell that is custom-made to fit on the tooth. Benefits of porcelain veneers:

  • They are strong and long-lasting
  • They have a natural-looking surface
  • Less tooth enamel needs to be removed than with a crown or cap
  • They don’t stain easily

Composite Resin Veneers

A composite resin veneer is made from a tooth-colored filling material bonded to the tooth. Benefits of composite resin veneers:

  • Usually less tooth enamel needs to be removed than for crowns or porcelain veneers
  • May mean fewer visits to the dentist—sometimes these veneers take just one visit
  • Cost less than porcelain veneers
  • Are easy to fix if they get damaged; although composite veneers are generally not as strong or wear-resistant as
  • Porcelain veneers, composite veneers can be repaired easily and quickly

What is done during the Porcelain Veneers Procedure?

Getting a dental veneer usually requires three trips to the dentist – one for a consultation and two to make and apply the veneers. One tooth or many teeth can simultaneously undergo the veneering process described below.

1. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

This first step involves your active participation. Explain to our dentist the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment, Dr. Jivarj dentist will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations.

2. Preparation

To prepare a tooth for a veneer, our dentist will remove about 1/2 millimeter of bad veneers from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, you and our dentist will decide the need for a local anaesthetic to numb the area. Next, our dentist will make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to our dental laboratory, which in turn constructs your veneer. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for our dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. For very unsightly teeth, temporary dental veneers can be placed.

3. Bonding

Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, our dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and color. He will repeatedly remove and trim the veneer as needed to achieve the proper fit; the veneer color can be adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. Next, to prepare your tooth to receive the veneer, your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and etched — which roughens the tooth to allow for a strong bonding process. A special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. Once properly position on the tooth, our dentist will apply a special light beam to the dental veneer, which activates chemicals in the cement, causing it to harden or cure very quickly. The final steps involve removing any excess cement, evaluating your bite and making any final adjustments in the veneer as necessary.
